Labor Day weekend seems so long ago, mostly because it was. That weekend, Michael developed a sore. A sore that within days went down to the bone. While we were busy taking measurements and pictures, he was put on strict bed rest. Michael was only allowed out of his bed twice each day, one hour each time. This made doing just about anything with him difficult. Church, Katie’s field hockey games, Chris’ concerts, a trip to the store.
We’ve been taking him down to the wonderful experts at DuPont Hospital every 10-14 days. We’ve used the almighty Wound-Vac, as well as many other creams and ointments. Everything had to be done just so… No pressure, right? Well, after over 6+ months, Michael has gotten the go-ahead to return to school next Monday. His teacher was ecstatic, his siblings and Dad are so happy, and me?…I’m happy, but a little scared. How can we be sure this won’t happen again? I can’t – I can only put my hope and faith in all those who help us care for Mikey. We have been so fortunate to have so many knowledgeable and helpful people caring for him. We are truly surrounded by greatness – fantastic people who notice every bruise, cut and sore.Superior experts who have learned to both follow the directives from his doctors, and also stimulate our amazing 12 year-old with books, toys, music and his favorite movies. It hasn’t been an easy road- it’s been a time of fear, worry and stress. Many of you have been praying for him. Glad to know those prayers have worked. Thank you for your support.
